A total solar eclipse, the last visible from the continental United States until 2017, arced over northern coterminous USA and southeastern Canada ending in Greenland;
Philips demonstrated the compact disc publicly for the first time;
Margaret Thatcher became the Britain's first female prime minister; and, amongst other things,
Three three lovely Swedes were born - Sandra, Malin, and Alex…. they would each go on to have great adventures separately and together and in 2019 would celebrate their 40th birthdays together one sunny afternoon in their second home - Bondi Beach, Australia. It would be a homage to 1979, that great year…
